On June 23, 2016, Faculty of Engineering of OIT concluded a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for academic and scientific cooperation with Faculty of Aerospace Engineering of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), the Netherlands. The signing ceremony was held at Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tokyo kindly supported by the embassy staff.
TU Delft is a world renowned engineering university in Delft City, located in the west of the Netherlands. The number of students is approximately 20,000. TU Delft contains eight faculties and six institutes
Under this MOU, OIT is planning to send two students to Netherlands approximately for three months this year for their research in a laboratory of TU Delft. Next year, students of TU Delft are expected to come to OIT in turn.
On June 20, prior to the signing ceremony, two professors from TU Delft, Dr. Piero Colonna and Dr. Claudio Lettieri, were invited to OIT during their stay in Japan for a seminar sponsored by the embassy. After meeting with OIT vice-president, they joined a campus tour to see the educational facilities. In addition, Dr. Colonna gave a special lecture to OIT graduate students of mechanical engineering. The participants showed their appreciation to Dr. Colona and the opportunity to experience the lecture of the prestigious university.
It is expected that the academic collaboration between TU Delft and OIT will be expanded in the future.
