From June 11 to 18, 2017, an International Project-Based Learning (iPBL) program was held by OIT Faculty of Information Science and Technology in Hirakata campus. Ten Students from Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology of Thammasat University (SIIT), Thailand, and Ten students from OIT joined the program. It is the second time that the Faculty has become a host to accept SIIT to hold an iPBL program. This program was conducted this year under the support of Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (SAKURA Exchange Program in Science), Japan Science and Technology Agency.
On the subject of “Real-World Game Programming”, five groups were organized. They developed their own programs to control wheel robots with a built-in camera which work as kicker and goalkeeper in a penalty shootout game. On the final day, all the teams joined around robin competition to choose the best group. Following the awards ceremony of the competition, the participants had a speech on their impressions on the iPBL program and their wishes in the future.
SIIT is established in 1992 as a semi-autonomous institute in Thammasat University. Since SIIT and OIT concluded the MOU in 2009, the relationship of the two institutes has been cultivated through implementation of student exchanges and iPBL programs.
