OIT students from Department of Applied Chemistry participated in an International Project-Based Learning (iPBL) program hosted by National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST) from August 28 to September 2, 2017. This year, the program was conducted by the three universities: NTUST, OIT, and Widya Mandala Catholic University (WMCU), Indonesia.
The program title was "Case study project based on Chemical Engineering". Fifteen students from NTUST, four students from WMCU, and fifteen students from OIT participated in the program. Split into fifteen teams, they engaged in experimentations and discussions to synthesize gold nanoparticles and separate the substances in a compound by using column chromatography. All the communications in the program were done in English as their common language.
On the last day, each team shared its outcomes in the final presentation session. Followed by the farewell party, the participants spent some time for cultural exchange.
NTUST and WMCU are both partners of OIT. Following the “Advanced iPBL” by the three universities in February, 2017, this was the second exchange program.
