Promoting Open Innovation

The world has become increasingly complex, making it difficult for a single academic field or single company to come up with solutions to social issues. In such circumstances, there is an urgent need for open innovation. RDC is located on the OIT Umeda campus, and utilizes the power of many people coming together to give form to their collective knowledge through open innovation.

Experiencing Corporate Issues

People from industries who gather at RDC are keen on value creation—adding value to new businesses and manufacturing. By learning together we can experience the various issues faced by their companies. Also, by working on such projects, students learn to identify their own future goals as they design their own careers.

These days, design extends beyond products and services to user experience (UX) design, and the various ordinary citizens who gather on the Umeda campus offer a consumer perspective that can be incorporated into the process of development and demonstration.

In these workshops to generate ideas, the youth and novel, flexible way of thinking of students is also attractive to companies.
