North Facade of New Library

The Omiya Main Library was relocated to Building No. 5 and opened on July 1 (Sat.) from 10:00 a.m.

The new Omiya Main Library has a capacity of 180,000 books, 174 reading seats, a river view lounge with 40 seats and a terrace with 30 seats for coffee and tea. The library area has a central atrium and a "book canyon" reminiscent of the Grand Canyon, creating a space where visitors can encounter books as they walk around. In addition, the reading area on the north side offers a view of the mountains of Hokusetsu and Rokko as well as the Yodo River. In addition, on the same floor as the reading area, there are five Learning Commons rooms and six individual booths that can be used by small groups of 150 people.

In addition to the automatic book checkout and return machines, users can also check out books from their smart phones. In addition, the Learning Commons and individual booths can be reserved via smartphone. We look forward to seeing you at the new Omiya Main Library.
