At the invitation of the Department of Chemical Engineering at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan Tech), 10 OIT students experienced PBL and Taiwanese culture from August 4 to 9.
The program was organized by 19 students from Taiwan Tech, 5 from Shibaura Institute of Technology (SIT), 2 from Widya Mandala Catholic University (WMCU), 2 from Surabaya Institute of Technology (ITS), and 1 from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Indonesia, for a total of 39 students.

The PBL with the Department of Chemical Engineering at Taiwan Tech has been conducted by the Department of Applied Chemistry until FY 2019, but this time, in order to provide students who were deprived of the opportunity to travel and participate in the program due to the COVID-19 over the past three years and were unable to participate in the default program, we invited applicants from across departments and grade levels to participate in the PBL program and experience exchange and PBL with overseas students. The program was open to students who could not participate in the previous program and offered them an opportunity to experience PBL and exchange with overseas students.

The theme of the PBL was "Net Zero Carbon Reduction Technology": what approaches can be taken to achieve the "Carbon Zero Mission" adopted by the Paris Agreement in 2015, which aims to limit the rise in global temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, Mixed teams from Japan, Taiwan, and Indonesia collaborated to create a 10-minute video presentation and presented their findings.

During the program, there were also cultural experiences at the Taipower Exhibit Center, Yehli Geopark, Pingxi Old Street, and the National Palace Museum, which deepened the friendship among the participating students.

One of the participating students said, "I learned in Taiwan that there are so many kind people in the world, and I want to be kind to others from now on. I also realized that it is important to challenge everything."
