Department of Electronic and Information Systems Engineering and the Department of Electrical and Electronic Systems Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering participated in the International PBL held at National Taipei University of Technology in Taiwan for 10 days from August 8 to 17. This year, students from Kyushu Institute of Technology and Tohoku University from Japan, New Taipei Municipal Zhonghe Senior High School from Taiwan, Ho Chi Minh University and FPT University from Vietnam, University of California, Riverside and California Polytechnic State University from the United States, and Thammasat University from Thailand also participated. The event was the largest ever held with a total of 79 students from 10 universities and high schools in 5 countries participating.
The program's task was to create a vehicle that could act autonomously, retrieve only red balls out of 10 red balls and 10 white balls in the arena, and collect them inside a fence around the arena. The 10 teams were multinational, and there were lively discussions in English. All of the teams, which included students from the Institute of Technology, completed their tasks with excellent results.
Participated students were extremely satisfied with the program and the change in their awareness. Many of them said that they have reaffirmed the importance of their English communication skills and abilities as well as their awareness of the project. We hope that this will be an opportunity for them to become even more active.
