On October 10, 2012 OIT hosted a symposium at Osaka center of OIT’s satellite campus. The theme of the symposium was, “Future Cooperation in Renewable Energy - Saudi Arabia and Japan.” This symposium was part of “Saudi Week in Osaka”, which was sponsored by the Ministry of Higher Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia - Cultural Office. More than a hundred participants from OIT and other institutions who were interested in renewable energy came to this symposium.
Guest presenters came from the University of Tokyo, King Saud University, Saudi Energy Efficiency Center, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and OIT. Professor Kawata, dean of the faculty of Engineering at OIT, presented at the symposium. His theme was “Education into the Environment and Energy Adopted by the Osaka Institute of Technology.” Some guest speakers presented about their research and development of solar energy technology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
A panel discussion with all presenters was held after the presentations. In this panel discussion, they discussed how Japan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia can begin collaboration on the field of renewable energy research. The panelists also discussed researches and developing solar technology in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the educational system of OIT.
